Winemakers are invited to enter their creative blends for this year’s Perold Absa Cape Blend Competition. This competition started in 2011 and has come a long way in establishing a well-respected wine category and inspiring winemakers to create exceptional, truly South African wines.
The aim of the Perold Absa Cape Blend Competition is to promote a category of wines with a Pinotage component – representative of South Africa and possessing the kind of complexity, balance and ageability that would allow them to stand out on a world stage.
In the past, the competition entry criteria include the stipulation that Pinotage must make up no less than 30% and no more than 70% of the blend. From this year the rule has changed to stipulate that Pinotage must account for at least 30% of the blend and be the dominant component.
The closing date for entries is 26 July 2019. The winners will be announced on the 29th of August at an awards function at Lanzerac, Stellenbosch .
